Back in 2009 when I was working on my save the dates (Wow that was a long time ago!), there were very few invitation options available. So, I decided to make my own – from designing to hand cutting each invitation to hand addressing them. It was a lot of work, and took a good chunk of precious time.
As I head into wedding season, I see so many types of invitations. Not only are they beautifully designed, but they capture the couple’s personality perfectly. Also, it takes only 10 mins, from personalization to ordering, and then they arrive in your mailbox within a week.
That’s why basicinvite.com is a great tool for newly engaged couples. Their easy to use website (I used it on my iPad and it worked great) makes designing your dream save the date invitations easy and fun!
If I was getting married now, I would ABSOLUTELY include our Boston Terrier, Gant in the invitation. He’s a part of us, and it wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t included.
Thankfully, basicinvite.com has some great designs that compliment you and your dog!
I had such a fun time choosing, as there are so many options! After browsing, I narrowed it down to my top three favorites:
One thing that I always tell my clients when they do custom portraits is to find colors that go with their aesthetic in their house, and this mantra is no different with save the dates. I wanted to make sure the colors of the invitation compliment what they are wearing in the photo. As you can see, I am wearing a mustard dress, and Eric is wearing a navy suit. The mint green in the design is a nice pairing, and doesn’t overwhelm the design.
They have over 180 color combinations to choose from (!!!), so you will have no problem finding the palette that’s right for you.
You can also customize the back! To the right, you see so many layout options. I decided on a simple photo with a heartfelt message to friends and family. But you can change it to whatever you’d like!
This invitation speaks to my love of hand lettering. The “Save the Date” script is gorgeous, and reminds me of when I did cursive in elementary school (but far better!). I love how it showcases the photo so well.
This design really spoke to me. I love the way the circle accents the photo. I also changed the color of the leaves, the fonts, and the background and it looks great!
It’s also so easy to change the text – just click on each text block, put in your info, and voila! All done!
You can also request self-addressed envelopes, which will save you so much time! Not only that, you can have every guest’s address printed on each envelope!
Don’t forget about their stylish save the date magnet selection! Here I chose a different font and changed the color palette!
This is also such a great option if you want to include your dog in your important event, but not have them there on the big day if it’s too difficult or stressful to attend the big day. It’s a nice way to honor them.
Like the postcard style? Check out their awesome post card save the dates. A great way to save some trees by eliminating the envelope!
With over 900 wedding suites to choose from, you’ll be sure to find the perfect one for your style!
They also do websites that match your invitation styles! I mean, COME ON – how gorgeous is this?!
I’d like to get married again, JUST so I can use their awesome tools.
So head on over to basicinvite.com and let the fun begin!
